Mr. Bones' Halloween Spook Out

Papertrey Ink is having a Halloween blog hop called "Mr. Bones' Halloween Spook Out".  You can see some of the other awesome creations and read more about it here.

I had a lot of fun making this card.  I think it turned out really cute. Not sure where the sentiment stamp is from I have had it for years and the ghosts are stamped with Memento Tux Black on Cerulean and then cut out.  The house was already cut out and colored brown so I took some grey Copics to darken it up and make it look spookier.  I stamped the windows with the crackle stamp to make it look like they are all cracked.

Autumn Blessings Card

I couldn't wait to play with my pumpkin die after seeing Danielle Flanders mini album.  I made a card because I wanted to make something I could finish quickly as mini albums usually take me awhile and I needed some instant gratification!  

The pumpkin is cut from Tim Holtz Kraft Glassine and then I used his gilded technique.  It wasn't until I took the picture that I realized I missed some step, I didn't crumple the paper and then highlight the crinkles...  Oh well, I don't know if I would have liked that look on the pumpkin.  I guess I will just make another one and see.  :)  

I added a felt leave from my stash box and cut the stem from a small piece of textured paper.  I then tried a technique I saw last weekend, I can't find the video anywhere to link it, I thought is was Gina K. but am not sure.  It taught you to take a piece of ribbon and wrap it around a pencil or something similar and use a heat gun to carefully and lightly heat the ribbon which actually curls it.  I thought I would give it a try with my kraft twine, I used a wooden skewer (pens and markers everywhere, not a pencil to be found!) and it worked like a charm!

Entered my crafts in the fair!

One of the places I never miss when visiting our fair is the Hobby Hall.  I have always wanted to submit some of my crafts and have just never done it. Until this year!  Here is what I entered:

 

I just dropped these off yesterday and am already thinking about what I might make and enter for next year!  I might have to break out my paints and start painting again too!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop 8/25/12

What I came up with:

This month Nicole challenged us to get into the fall spirit and while fall is my very favorite time of year I just wasn't ready to think warm and fuzzy flannels and turtlenecks!  I am still in the summer mood, which here in the Pacific Northwest doesn't last long.  So I struggled a little with this one but I think this card turned out alright.  This is my first card of this size, 5.5 x 5.5.  I like the room you have to play with on this size but I need to keep playing with it so that it becomes more comfortable for me.

Six Word Saturday 8/18/12

It's been really hot here lately...

We are not used to triple temps here in the Pacific NorthWET.  Most people don't like it when it get in the high 80's...  Luckily the temps start coming down today and for all of next week.  

One thing I worry about are thunderstorms they are calling for today starting more fires here and in the Eastern part of the state.  We are going on almost 30 days with no rain.  I know it is bad all over our country so please keep the fire and safety workers, not to mention the family's in the path of fires everywhere, in your prayers.

Five Question Friday 8/3/12

 

This week’s questions & My Answers:

1. What is a must in a hotel room?

 

Honestly, anything I write down will make me sound like a snob.  I like a clean bathroom, especially the shower floor.  I like to have a chair in the room so that you don't always have to sit on the bed and air conditioning is always a plus!

 

2. Which Olympic event would you be best at? 

 

HAHA I would get a Gold in sitting on my butt!  I suck at pretty much everything else.

 

3. What's your stance on the Chick-fil-A subject?

 

Mama's answer summed up exactly how I feel!

4. One thing you said you'd never do as a parent, but totally have.

 

I plead the fifth!

5. What's the weirdest thing you've ever found at a yard sale?

 

Again Mama's answer fits me to a T! Although after reading about the utensils, I think I might need to take a page out of Howie Mandel's book and start bringing my own with me when I eat out...
