Six Word Saturday 8/31/13

It's my favorite time of year!

For me this means the time of year that goes by the fastest. Summer is almost over, football season is here. Shorter, cooler days, beautiful fall colors. In a couple more weeks it will be time to bring the long sleeves and long pants out. I don't have a little one anymore so I don't do much decorating for Halloween but I do like to change the decor up a bit for fall then all of the Christmas decor comes out the weekend after Thanksgiving (US). Fall is my favorite time of the year!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Stamp-a-faire 2013: Sweet Sugar Coated Embellishments

I finished! I finished! I finished! I finished! I finished! I finished! I finished! I finished! I finished!
I made one thing for each challenge!  This was a lot of fun but very time consuming!  I will probably stay away from stamping for a few days to sleep though....  :)  This is a happy tired though.

Tomorrow I will be looking forward to SAF 2014 but right now I am glad it is over!

Stamp-a-faire 2013: Limited Ingredients Challenge

This went together pretty quickly either because I am super tired or because it is just like (different colors) a few other cards I have made.  I think this set is going to be my favorite for awhile.

Stamp-a-faire 2013: Whipping Up Scent-sational Cards

I decided to copy Nicole's card because I couldn't resist those cherries!  One thing I won't do again is heat emboss with the panel attached to the card.  It really warps the paper.  I tried heating from the bottom, side, moving the card around, moving the heat gun around, you get the picture but nothing seemed to work.  So at least if I heat the panel first I can make it flat again with scor-tape.  It will not beat me!  haha!

Stamp-a-faire 2013: Custom Accents from the Oven

Hey I one out of three ain't bad! Okay, I think you can call this a project fail...  I haven't played shrink plastic in years.  While this application (heat gun) didn't work I will definitely be making some bits and bob's for my Christmas cards to go along with that paperclay! I really like the candy cane and I will probably do some of the round candy too!

*Edited to add a tag I made with the lone candy cane that made it through the heating process.

Stamp-a-faire 2013: Gallon:Quart:Pint

August Papertrey Blog Hop

I started this card sometime during the week and just found it under some of my SAF mess just in nick of time!

Stamp-a-faire 2013: Sprinkle of Salt

This technique didn't really work for my I don't know why, while it was wet it looked good but as it dried the little "dark spots" dried up...  I will give it another try though, down the road.

Stamp-a-faire 2013: Mixing Mists to Match

I love misting!  Now that I can make my own PTI colors I love it even more!

Stamp-a-faire 2013: Rolled Dough Designs

I chose to try Heather's tutorial.  The picture doesn't do this justice!  In real life the stars are super sparkly!  I love how the ink looks once it is stamped on the clay too.

I am love with Delight Paperclay!  It is so light and fluffy and easy to work with!  I WILL be making lots of sparkly Christmas ornaments this year for sure!

Stamp-a-faire 2013: Tea Staining Techniques

I chose to use Melissa Phillips technique on my card with a couple of differences, she used black tea and soaked it for days.  I used coffee and soaked it for only three hours, next time I will do it like she did because I really like the darker color.

I used one of the sketches from this morning on this card.  My flower didn't "fluff" up as much as I would have liked and this sketch has two flowers which I think makes them look fluffier up together.  Rather than using different card stock on the sections I decided to try a version of Erin's technique and "paint" on the paper with stain.  I really like how it turned out.

This my second project for today.  I'm 12 hours in and only have two projects done... But never fear, I WILL complete all challenges before Noon on Monday!

PTI Stamp-a-faire: Breakfast Bake & Take

It's Stamp-A-Faire time!

My first project for the day is for the Bake & Take, I chose this sketch:

and this color scheme:

I saw someone stamp the flowers from Reason to smile in blue today in a challenge and fell in love with the color combo!  I am totally out of my comfort zone with mixing pattern papers but this turned out okay.

2) I never tire of petting my cat Smokey.
3) I love the charity Wounded Warrior Project because it strives to help the bravest that protect us!
4) My dream job would be a craft/DIY blogger because I’d get to play most of the day and then write about playing most of the day!

Thanks!

I received my Gel Sticks and just couldn't wait to play with them.  I think I need to get better watercolor paper as the kind I have seems to pill quite a bit while it is wet.  When it dries it's fine and you can't tell where the pilling was but while wet and painting it is a pain!
These were a blast to play with!  First I die cut the sunflowers and then painted them with the gel sticks.  When they were dry I stamped them with the coordinating Simple Sunflower stamp using Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge Distress Ink and then spritzed them with water.  I think they turned out great!
